Lunar Eclipse: Partial Lunar Eclipse occurs Tuesday Sep 17th from 8:41 PM EDT to 12:47 AM EDT the next day (Early hours of Sep 18th).
Eclipse and suggested Do/Donots: According to Hindu traditions, it is advisable to fast during the eclipse period and perform mantra Japam (chanting of mantras) or meditation. Pregnant women are advised not to venture out during the eclipse. One can place Darbha (a specific grass) on any cooked food and devotees can collect it at the temple during open hours. While every eclipse is considered to impact certain raashis (star signs), the current lunar eclipse will impact Poorvabhadra Nakshatram, Kumbha & Meena Raashis.
Performing the Grahana Abhishekam / Puja is considered to remedy and ward off any such negative impacts of the eclipse. Devotees can perform Archana on the following day at the temple
Special Puja: The temple will perform a Special Navagraha Abhishekam after the eclipse Sep 18th at 10:00 AM
